Unemployed loser Nada sees the world in black. He goes to try his luck in Los Angeles and gets a job as a construction worker. One day, a young man witnesses the destruction of a church and finds unusual sunglasses there. By wearing them, he gets the opportunity to see the world as it is, that is, even worse than Nada could have imagined. Reality scares the young man. The usual street advertising and magazine covers are full of slogans: "Obey", "Marry and reproduce", "No independent thought", "Consume", "Watch TV", "Buy", "Stay asleep", "Don't question authority" The inscription on the banknotes reads: "This is your God". And people appear in their true form through the lenses of sunglasses. A good half of the world's population reveals their secret to Nada: they are not people at all, but aliens with skull-like faces and dream of conquering the world.
