Ruby is the only guide to the hearing world for her deaf but very friendly and loving family. In the mornings, together with her father and older brother, she goes out to sea to fish, and then goes to school, where she has to endure the ridicule of her narrow-minded classmates every day. One day, Ruby unexpectedly joins the school choir, and she has her own dream — to go to a music college. But when the family's fishing business is under threat, the schoolgirl faces a difficult choice.
