The film is based on the book of the same name by Joy Adamson. This story happened to the Adamson couple in fact. The writer's husband, who worked as a senior huntsman in Kenya, once tracked down and killed the man-eating lion, and at the same time his enraged husband, who attacked the people. In the den of beasts, George discovered three lions and could not abandon them. Together with Joy they nurtured the cubs, and then two of them were given to the zoo. But with the smallest and beloved - the lioness Elsa - the Adamsons could not part. Joy decided to teach her to live in freedom, and this step almost cost the lioness of life. However, Adamson did not give up - the woman believed that once her ward was born free, she could live in freedom.
