The giant Avalon spacecraft is in the 30th year of its 120-year flight to the colonized planet. It carries 5,000 passengers and 258 crew members on board, who are placed in hibernation capsules. Flying through an asteroid cloud, the ship receives minor damage, as a result of which one hibernation capsule awakens passenger Jim Preston 90 years ahead of schedule. Jim turns out to be the only person on a giant station where there is no one to talk to except an android bartender named Arthur, and there is no way to plunge into hibernation again. One accident generates another and as a result, another passenger - the girl Aurora Lane - finds herself on board the ship. This is where the key romantic line begins, where Jim and Aurora gradually fall in love with each other, but soon not only their relationship, but the entire ship will be under threat.
