1947 year. European professor of French, Humbert, moves to the USA. He rents a room with the widow of Charlotte Haze and her daughter Lolita. This teenage girl is unusually lively and not very modest, but this is precisely what causes Humbert to generate feelings for Lolita, which is very scary for him. Soon, Lolita informs Humbert that her mother really likes him and, indeed, Charlotte confronts him with a choice - a wedding or if he leaves her house forever. Humbert is forced to agree to marry, because he wants to stay closer to Lolita. One day, Charlotte finds Humbert's diaries in which he describes in detail his passion for Lolita and how much Charlotte disgusts him. Soon she dies in an accident. And Humbert becomes the guardian of Lolita.
