After activists of the animal rights movement free the experimental chimpanzees from the laboratory, an unknown virus breaks free, turning people into zombies. 28 days later, a guy named Jim wakes up in an empty hospital. Having taken to the streets of London, Jim realizes that the city is empty. Soon he encounters the infected, but he manages to escape from them. In the evening, he meets two survivors - Selena and Mark, from whom he learns that the virus spread very quickly and turned almost all people into bloodthirsty zombies. The extent of the infection remains unknown, and there is no connection with other countries. Now they have to constantly move in search of survivors and hopes of salvation.
