Jack Hammond has overstepped the law and is now forced to hide from the police. He steals a car in which he is trying to leave the state borders. However, when he goes to the store to buy cigarettes, he catches the eye of the patrolmen. To avoid being detained, Jack takes a young girl Natalie hostage, who turns out to be the daughter of a millionaire. In her red BMW, the criminal is heading for the Mexican border. They are being chased not only by the police of the entire state, but also by journalists who are chasing a sensation. On the way, the fugitives get into various comical situations.
